Mexican superstar Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez will put his WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight championships on the line on Saturday against the undefeated Edgar Berlanga.

Super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez outpointed challenger Edgar Berlanga on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at T-Mobile Arena.

Canelo Álvarez spent his Saturday doing what he usually does around the time of Mexican Independence Day these days: taking care of business. In this case, it was a win over undefeated challenger Edgar Berlanga.

Canelo Alvarez has received mass backlash for blackballing a member of the boxing media. According to reports, Ricardo Celis was not allowed press credentials for Canelo’s fight with Edgar Berlanga. Alvarez won a unanimous decision win in a dominant performance after dropping Berlanga in the third round.

The undefeated super middleweight could not topple the unified champion as he suffered a first career defeat in Las Vegas.
