What I saw on Day 1 of Islanders training camp: No Ilya Sorokin and a top line taking shape
Patrick Roy wasted no time in his first training camp as Islanders coach. The first drill on Thursday morning was run by the Isles’ presumptive top line for 2024-25, with Anthony Duclair and Mathew Barzal flanking Bo Horvat.
Duclair to Start Training Camp on Line with Barzal and Horvat
Entering his 11 th NHL season, Duclair is more than familiar with Barzal and Horvat as opponents and has the utmost respect for both. There’s a little more familiarity off the ice as well, as Duclair and Horvat were roommates at the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, where they won gold.
Grueling start to Islanders training camp
Coach Roy said he hopes by getting his players conditioned well, they can avoid the slow starts they've gotten off to in the past two seasons.
