Texas first passed a law in 1997 that allows astronauts to vote if they will be in space during early voting and on Election Day.

On Friday, the Election Department of the Harris County Clerk's Office released its polling location map on the Harris Votes website. Currently, the map shows 87 early voting locations and 679 Election Day polling centers, but an election department representative said these numbers could change slightly before voting officially begins.

Thanks to a special Texas law, NASA's Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, the two veteran astronauts, will still be able to perform their civic duty, voting absentee from low-Earth orbit for the U.S. election in November.
