While it won't affect voting in federal elections, voters' ability to cast ballots in local and state elections could be affected.

The Republican-leaning Arizona Supreme Court unanimously ruled Friday that nearly 98,000 people whose citizenship documents hadn’t been confirmed can vote in state and local races, saying the voters were not at fault for a database error that for two decades mistakenly designated them as having access to the full ballot.

Nearly 100,000 voters will receive regular ballots this fall even though there is no record that they submitted citizenship documentation, as is required to vote in state and local elections.
