Two police officers in Iowa have been hospitalized after being shot early Monday morning in an incident in which a fleeing suspect was shot and killed by officers, officials say.

The Des Moines Police Department identified the man who was killed in a shooting on Sunday as 24-year-old Rayjon Ray. Kyonta Lavon Taylor, 25, was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter and felon in possession of a firearm in Ray’s death on Monday, spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek said in a news release.

Four of the candidates are ranking officers in the Des Moines Police Department. The city will conduct closed interviews next.
