The Republican-leaning Arizona Supreme Court unanimously ruled Friday that nearly 98,000 people whose citizenship documents hadn’t been confirmed can vote in state and local races, saying the voters were not at fault for a database error that for two decades mistakenly designated them as having access to the full ballot.

While it won't affect voting in federal elections, voters' ability to cast ballots in local and state elections could be affected.

Nearly 100,000 Arizonans who the state recently discovered have not provided proof of citizenship will still be able to vote on all races, at least this year, the Arizona Supreme Court has ruled.
